A Peek Inside...

Our Diaper Bag!

I saw a couple of cute posts where girls were sharing their purse must haves and I since I don't carry a purse anymore, I thought I would share what's inside our diaper bag.
I needed a post like this when Cooper was first born because I had no idea what I would need when we were out and about. So, I thought I would share what works for us and maybe it will help some brand new Mommas out!

These are the essentials that we keep with us at all times! I'm always over prepared, but there have been times I have been so glad I've had these things with me!
Ben got me this diaper bag the day we found out we were having a boy. He dropped me back off at work after our appointment and headed straight to buy it. He surprised me with it at our Gender Reveal Party that night.
I had it monogrammed (With just a "C" because it could stand for Counts or Cooper {OR} Caroline, Colin, Callie etc. in the future. Ha!) and I love it! It is the perfect diaper bag with tons of pockets and it also means a lot to me that Ben picked it out on his very own (sweet!) ;).

There is a stroller strap that lays right across the handle of the stroller and keeps the bag out of the way.

I got a pack of mini baby toiletries at one of my showers, so I stuck them in their own little pocket with the Desitin. I don't know that we'll ever need to wash Coop's hair while we're out, but hey we've got mini shampoo if we needed it. Ha!
I keep a bulb syringe, Advil (for me), a thermometer, Mylicon drops and band-aids with me at all times just in case.

I tuck this changing pad/wipe case combo in the large outer pocket. I have used it countless times. It is so convenient. (I haven't had to use one of those bathroom changing tables so far. Do they make anyone else's skin crawl?)
These little scented diaper bags stay in the back pocket with the changing mat. These are a must when you aren't near a diaper pail. I never want to be that girl who threw the stinky diaper in the garbage and smelled up the place. Ha!

I always have an extra onesie, bib and socks with me for any, ahem, surprises that may happen :/.

I keep the diapers in this top pocket. Easy to get to when I need one quick. They are also near my hand sanitizer so I can change him and then clean my hands if we are out and about and not near a sink.

At least 2 burp cloths and a receiving blanket are a must.

I stick a couple of small toys in the bag as well. It's good for when we out to eat or waiting for an appointment, etc.

I keep these disposable bibsters with me but we haven't used one yet. I'm thinking these will come in handy more when Cooper is eating baby food.
We LOVE the Dapple pacifier wipes. They are non-toxic so it doesn't hurt him to wipe the paci off and give it right back. They smell like green apple. We have boogie wipes for his little nose and face as well (these also double as great face wipes if you get a makeup smudge, Mommas!)

Speaking of pacifiers, they have their little home right here in the paci-pocket. I'm telling you Skip-Hop has thought of everything. I give Coop one and keep a clean one in the pocket.

The insulated side bottle pockets are awesome and keep the bottles upright so they don't leak. They also have a place for me to put my ice packs to keep the bottle chilled if we're going to be out for a while.

We haven't used this part of the bag yet, but I think it is so neat. When Cooper starts eating baby food, these travel food containers will be great. It came with an ice pack to slip in there and keep that area chilled. There is even a pocket for spoons!

I keep my Vera Bradley ID case (I posted about here) on my keys with my license, cards and money so I never have to deal with a wallet anymore. Hey, a full Hobo can add some serious weight to your bag and we don't need any more of that. Ha! I also designated one of the front pockets as my pocket and I keep some little tissues, powder, my phone and lip gloss(es) in there.

I know it seems like it would be heavy or get in the way, but honestly I've had purses bigger than this bag in the past and they probably weighed more too. It's worth it to me to be prepared and ready no matter what.
So, if you ever see me out and happen to need a band-aid or a squirt of hand sanitizer, I'm your girl. Ha!

Oh and in other news, I got to get this sweet girl ready for her Senior beauty pageant this past Friday. I thought she looked gorgeous and would kill for her hair!
It was so much fun getting back in to stylist mode for a day!

Hope your Monday is going GREAT!

  1. Good post! We have a skiphop bag and LOVE it. I also love that it's not too girly so that Ian doesn't mind carrying it around either. Now, with 2 under 2, I'm surprised how little I need o go out! Diapers, wipes, and a changing pad is all I take out most of the time. And a paci for my 1 and a half year old. That's it!

    1. That's what my mom was telling me, the older they get the less you need for outings. I will probably still keep all the stuff with us, and just leave the big bag in the car just in case.

  2. I have to look for the pacifier wipes - was wondering what people did when they were out! Thanks for sharing!

    1. They work like a charm. That way you don't have to try to find a sink everytime. ;)

  3. That looked about like Dav's bag! I stopped carrying a purse when he was born. I still don't carry one. I may sometimes carry a wrist-let, but only in like Target or something.

I LOVE that food part of that bag. That will really come in handy. I have not seen any bag like that before.

    ;)

    Great post!

    1. I love the no purse thing. I will have to get me a wristlet, that's a great idea! The food part of the bag is my favorite part. Ben did pretty good, huh?! :):)

  4. Wow, awesome diaper bag! I have a Skip Hop bag too. Which style is this? I feel like it holds SO much! I love mine but find myself running out of room pretty often.
